Lucas Wood — Lead Pastor

Pastor Lucas & Nicole joined the Layhill family in October of 2024. They relocated from Harrisonburg, Virginia, with their daughter, Meredith. Pastor Lucas has a degree from Indiana Wesleyan’s Wesley Seminary and is an elder of the Free Methodist Church; he grew up on the mission field, spending ten years in the Middle East, and has a desire to see the nations reached here in Silver Spring. Pastor Lucas has a heart for vibrant, joyful, and powerful prayer, worship, and teaching the Bible in ways that make it practically applicable for every-day life. He often says that he is ‘in love with the local church, because the local church is God’s salvation plan for the world,’ which is where he finds fulfillment and joy serving God by serving the community.

“I want every person to enjoy the presence of God in prayer and worship, and live a life of holiness that is the result of an overflow of love for God. My desire for you is to taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8), because we remain confident of this: we will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13).”
