Local Missions
CEF (Childhood Evangelism Fellowship)
CEF is a Bible-centered, interdenominational, worldwide organization, whose purpose and mission are to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, disciple them in the Word of God, and establish them in a Bible-believing church for Christian living. CEF has many different ministries for children, but the primary ones are the Good News Club and the 5-Day Club. The Good News Club and 5-Day Club ministries take place in neighborhood settings such as homes, backyards, schools and community centers all over the world. These fast-paced, one-hour programs are designed to bring the Gospel of Christ to children on their level in their environment. At Layhill, we assist in running two Good News Clubs in our local elementary schools.
Rockville Women’s Center
Rockville Women’s Center is a faith-based crisis pregnancy center that offers no cost support to women experiencing unplanned pregnancy.
Araminta - Freedom From Child Sex Trafficking
Throughout Maryland, Araminta reduces the threat and trauma of trafficking through prevention, education, and restorative services for survivors of what is universally defined as modern slavery. Children in Maryland are exceptionally vulnerable to trafficking. Many factors, such as the state’s disparity of extreme poverty and extreme wealth, the increased presence of gambling facilities, the intersection of a major seaport, international airports, and interstate highways fosters an illicit marketplace for children. Araminta exists to see the end of child sex trafficking.
CRU (Campus Crusade For Christ)
CRU’s purpose is to help fulfill the Great Commission in the power of the Holy Spirit by winning people to faith in Jesus Christ, building them in their faith, and sending them to win and build others. We help the body of Christ do evangelism and discipleship in a variety of creative ways. CRU offers spiritual guidance, resources and programs tailored to people from all cultures in every walk of life, such as campus ministries in 900 locations, who engage more than 36,000 students and faculty members on U.S. middle school, high school, and college campuses. At Layhill, we support local missionaries Stephanie & Levi Mberego, who serve on the George Mason University campus.
MUM (Mid County United Ministries)
Mid-County United Ministries (MUM) has provided a safety net for the working poor, the disabled, the elderly on fixed incomes, and in these difficult times, the unemployed, since 1996. We are a member of the Emergency Assistance Coalition, headed by Interfaith Works of Montgomery County. Our goal is always to treat the people we serve with respect and show that they matter by giving them appropriate assistance. Choice is given to clients whenever possible, particularly in the selection of food.
