In the deepest part of my innermost being, I find myself at times afraid. These fears can stem from my past or can be new fears I collect along the way. Not so much the fear one may have walking down a long alley in the middle of the night, but the subtle fears that live inside my head. If I am not careful, they can debilitate me.

They are the fears of loss of what once was. The fear of not being good enough or accepted lingers. There are the fears of being in situations where you do not want to be, but it is where you are. These fears speak to us and they keep us up at night.

The fear of walking into new situations, places, things and not knowing the outcomes. These fears keep us from taking steps of faith. It is the fear at this moment that life like we knew may truly never be the same. Perhaps the greatest fear comes from the great illusion that we thought we were in control.

As the enemy injects fear into our lives, know that the word of God over three hundred times in a variety of ways says to us “Do not fear.” An anonymous author writes, “We will have times where we will be afraid; however, because of the Lord we do not have to let the enemy boss us around.”

Living together courageously in the confident hope of Jesus,

Colossians 1:16-17 “For through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.”

Psalm 27:1 “The LORD is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?”
