Lucas Wood — Lead Pastor

Pastor Lucas & Nicole joined the Layhill family in October of 2024, relocating from Harrisonburg, Virginia. They have two daughters, Meredith and Emily. Pastor Lucas has a degree from Indiana Wesleyan’s Wesley Seminary and is an elder of the Free Methodist Church; he grew up on the mission field, spending ten years in the Middle East, and has a desire to see the nations reached here in Silver Spring. Pastor Lucas has a heart for vibrant, joyful, and powerful prayer, worship, and teaching the Bible in ways that make it practically applicable for every-day life. He often says that he is ‘in love with the local church, because the local church is God’s salvation plan for the world,’ which is where he finds fulfillment and joy serving God by serving the community.

My desire for you is to taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8), because we remain confident of this: we will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13).”
LeAnne Johnson - Administrative Secretary

LeAnne has been attending Layhill since she was three days old, and lived within walking distance from the church for many years. While she has always been integral to the life and ministry of the church, she has been faithfully serving in an increased capacity as the Administrative Secretary for twenty-five years! Before coming on staff at Layhill, she served as facility director at Peach Orchard Campground (now Tabernacle World Prayer Center) for sixteen years. LeAnne loves listening to gospel music, blessing others with her gift of singing, gardening, decorating, DIYing, her five children, and most of all her twelve grandchildren.
LeAnne has never known a stranger, and takes Philippians 4:4 to heart each day, “rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”

This team consists of elected leaders within the congregation who work in tandem with our lead pastor to guide our church, protect the health of our church, establish standard operating procedures, and ensure our vision and purpose are in line with scripture.
